Trainings and Learning Opportunities

PHIL offers a range of trainings and virtual courses. Many trainings and courses are available online for self-paced learning, or you can engage a member of the PHIL team who can ensure you meet your unique learning goals.

Guided Curriculum for Multisector Collaboratives

In 2021, PHIL published a curriculum for multisector collaboratives, “Powering Change: Building Healthier Equitable Communities Together.” This curriculum can be utilized as a foundation for guided learning with groups at any point in their collaboration development. A curriculum journey can be individual and/or a series of modules and lessons as desired by the client. Curriculum packages could include:

  • 1-, 2-, or 3-month Bootcamp
  • 12-month journey through entire curriculum
  • Tailored series of lessons to support specific objectives or needs of your MSC

Networks & Systems Trainings

Network and system science offer tools and methods for understanding interconnectedness. The PHIL team uses network theory and network analysis to study health systems, multisector collaboratives, governance networks, policy networks, and disease transmission networks. We offer a wide range of services to assist communities with understanding and improving their networks and systems. All services are customized to your unique needs, with the cost varying based on the specific needs.

  • Introduction to Network Science Training: An overview and introduction to network science. Including one session for 120-minutes focused on introducing network science, network theories, and an overview of approaches for understanding networks.
  • Network Mapping Training: An overview and introduction to network mapping. Including two 90-minute sessions focused on partnership mapping approaches and tools, practice network mapping, and understanding how network mapping can inform your work in practice. 
  • Network Analysis Training: An overview and introduction to network analysis. Including two 90-minute sessions focused on reviewing network measures, network data structure, network analysis tools, practice analyzing your network in Gephi or R, and understanding how network analysis can inform your work in practice.
  • Conducting a Network Study from Start to Finish Workshop: This in-depth, week-long workshop will prepare you to conduct a network study from start to finish. You will learn about the entire network research process, including designing network studies, collecting network data, processing network data, mapping and analyzing your network, reporting findings, and translating network findings to practice. 
  • Measuring Aligning Training: An overview of the “Toolbox for Measuring Cross-Sector Alignment.” You will learn how to implement strategies developed by the PHIL team and others for measuring aligning across sectors.
