Get to know Tammy:
Tammy joined PHIL in 2024 to lead regional Collaborative Planning and Implementation (CPI) strategies for the Providing Access and Transforming Health (PATH) initiative within California Advancing and Innovating Medi-Cal (CalAIM). CalAIM is a far-reaching, multiyear plan to transform Medi-Cal and make it more equitable, coordinated, and person-centered. Supporting seven counties across two CPI regions, PHIL’s PATH CPI work promotes collaborative opportunities to expand Medi-Cal services and improve health outcomes through CalAIM’s Enhanced Care Management and Community Supports. Tammy is deeply committed to community, coalition building, and inspiring public health interventions that overcome the social and structural barriers to health equity. When not working, Tammy spends as much time as possible enjoying California’s Coastal Redwoods and helping her husband, John, on their off-the-grid, sustainable family farm.

Experience:
Tammy joined PHIL after working as the CalAIM Director and Community Action Development Director for North Coast Opportunities (NCO) where she led grant writing activities, budget development, and program implementation for public health and community wellness services. Prior to working at NCO, Tammy spent 20 years in California local government leadership roles, including Agency Director for Mendocino County Health and Human Services, Public Health Director in Merced County, and First 5 Director in San Mateo County. She has served as a Board member for Medi-Cal Managed Care Plans, Accountable Communities for Health, First 5 Commissions, and other community-based organizations. Tammy’s academic and social services career began in Denver, Colorado, where she earned her bachelor’s degree and Master of Business Administration.
