Get to know Beverly:
Beverly provides strategic guidance on research initiatives, overseeing the development of manuscripts and tools to inform best practices in maternal and child health. She supports various evaluations and projects, including collaborations with the CDC’s Office of Rural Health to develop resources for rural health classification and statewide initiatives in California to enhance ACE screening efforts through interactive data dashboards. Leveraging advanced statistical and epidemiological methods, Beverly delivers high-level insights to improve health outcomes and address disparities in marginalized communities. When Beverly isn’t working, you’ll find her rewatching comfort shows (think love-themed animes and dating shows), taking personality quizzes, practicing calligraphy, or diving into media about women in tech, data analytics, healthcare, lifestyle, and productivity!
Experience:
Beverly earned a Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences with a minor in Biology from Boston University, where she was recognized as a Richard D. Cohen Scholar and Harold C. Case Scholar. She went on to complete her Master of Public Health with a Global Health concentration and a Maternal and Child Health certificate at Emory University’s Rollins School of Public Health. During her MPH, Beverly contributed to numerous research initiatives, including an NIH-funded study at the Emory University School of Medicine that investigated the impact of structural racism on Black maternal health outcomes. She also started working with the Public Health Institute on projects aimed at improving equitable health outcomes and with the Center for Black Women’s Wellness to evaluate the impacts of financial assistance programs for pregnant women. Beverly’s expertise extends to analyzing large datasets, such as the State of Oral Health Equity in America Survey and Pregnancy Risk Assessment Monitoring System (PRAMS), through her work at CareQuest Institute for Oral Health, focusing on driving insights into oral and systemic health integration.
