Get to know April:
April joined PHIL in 2024 to support MERLIN’s research and evaluation projects with data collection and analysis, participant outreach and recruitment, and report development. 

Experience:
April holds a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology from the University of California, Davis, where she also served as a research assistant in the Asian American Studies department. Prior to joining PHIL, April’s role as a research intern at the International Children Assistance Network focused on culturally responsive projects addressing social and health disparities in the Bay Area’s Vietnamese-American community. Her volunteer experience includes assisting refugees through organizations such as Opening Doors in Sacramento and BPSOS in Thailand. Before transitioning into public health and social science, April was formally a gymnastics director, coach, and judge. When April is not working, she can be found knitting, taking dance classes, listening to audiobooks and podcasts, or going on adventures with her dog, Margot, and husband.
