Multisector Collaborative Development and Support

Bringing multisector collaboratives together to find ways to ensure the best health outcomes for their communities is at the heart of PHIL’s mission. We help gather groups across sectors and create spaces for meaningful exchanges of ideas.

Community of Practice

Communities of Practice are groups of people who share a passion for an issue that they collectively work on, and who interact regularly to learn how to improve their knowledge and skills. To create the right conditions to support the multisector collaboratives or cross-collaborative learnings, a Design Team can be established to steward the overarching learning and action within the group(s).

The time for a Community of Practice could be 6 months, 12 months, or span the length of your initiative.

  • Monthly Group Calls: Participants engage in monthly web-based discussions to facilitate peer learning exchange, inspire ideas for innovation, share lessons and failures, and seed possibilities for deeper collaboration and innovation.
  • Affinity Groups: We will explore the possibility of forming smaller affinity groups of participants who have similar interests and want to come together to learn.
  • Curated Tools and Resources: We regularly curate resources and web discussions that are relevant to the domain of the community of practice.
  • Practice Sprints: Practice sprints provide an opportunity for participants to explore various pathways, structures, and/or processes in and with their communities. After each sprint, participants come back together to share and reflect on their progress and learning during our group calls/workshops and/or pop-up sessions.

Guided Curriculum for Multisector Collaboratives

In 2021, PHIL published a curriculum for multisector collaboratives, “Powering Change: Building Healthier Equitable Communities Together.” This curriculum can be utilized as a foundation for guided learning with groups at any point in their collaboration development. A curriculum journey can be individual and/or a series of modules and lessons as desired by the client. Curriculum packages could include:

  • 1-, 2-, or 3-month Bootcamp
  • 12-month journey through entire curriculum
  • Tailored series of lessons to support specific objectives or needs of your MSC
