About the Workshop
Have you been working with a committee, board, or other group that works across sectors, disciplines, jurisdictions, or government entities to improve the well-being of your community or a specific population? Are you ready to take your collaborative efforts to the next level?
The Population Health Innovation Lab (PHIL) invites you to a training experience that will empower you to leverage strategic collaboration for lasting, systemic change in population health and equity. Whether you’re an emerging leader or seasoned professional, this training will unlock new pathways for you to enhance impact through proven strategies focused on improving systems, advancing equity, and sustaining high-performance collaborations.
This 2-day, project-based virtual workshop will build your knowledge and skills in Community Partnership Development–a foundational capability named in the Foundational Public Health Services framework. The workshop is focused on aiding Local Health Departments (LHDs) representatives to deepen their understanding and practice of cross-boundary collaboration for population health and health equity. The workshop blends theory with practical applications, helping participants develop collaboration strategies tailored to their LHD’s unique context.

- Backbone or bridge staff (i.e., supporting Accountable Communities of/for Health, Accountable Health Communities, public health coalitions, Collective Impact initiatives, etc.)
- Conveners stewarding the work of health-focused collaboratives
- Members of committees, boards, advisory groups, or other collaborative bodies who are working across sectors, disciplines, or boundaries to improve population health, well-being and equity

Workshop Rates
- Early bird rate: $400 (processing fees included in ticket price) when you register by the early bird deadline for your selected workshop
- Regular rate: $450 (processing fees included in ticket price)
- Group discount: There is a 20% discount off the regular workshop rate for any group registering at least 3 or more participants

Meet the Trainer!
Stephanie Bultema

Stephanie earned a PhD in Public Affairs at the University of Colorado Denver and an M.A. in Administrative Leadership from Whitworth University, with additional coursework completed through Washington State University’s Master of Health Policy and Administration program. She works as Director of Monitoring, Evaluation, Research, and Learning Innovations (MERLIN), where she serves as research Principal Investigator and directs the scientific vision and strategy for PHIL. Before joining the PHIL team, Stephanie worked as Senior Researcher in the Center on Network Science and principal consultant of Bultema Consulting LLC. She served as a public health professional from 2010-2017, most recently as Assessment Epidemiologist. She served as President of the School Health Care Association of Spokane County and as Board Member for Communities in Schools of Spokane County from 2015-2017.

Foundation Forward is collection of trainings from the PHIL Collective, designed specifically for health departments to strengthen their capacity as key community leaders. These sessions equip health departments to excel in roles such as backbone organization, convener, connector, data steward, and fiscal agent. Each training is thoughtfully crafted to enhance skills in alignment with the Foundational Public Health Services (FPHS) framework, empowering departments to better serve their local communities.
