Get to know Lizania:
Lizania joined PHIL in 2025 as a Research Associate III bringing her expertise to support various research and evaluation initiatives. Witnessing firsthand the disparities in healthcare and nutrition access, particularly in rural settings, has driven her advocacy for health equity. Beyond her professional endeavors, Lizania enjoys quality time with her family, nurturing her garden, cooking, and exploring artistic pursuits such woodworking.
Experience:
Lizania holds a Bachelor of Science in Nutrition Science with a minor in Chicano Studies from the University of California, Davis. Prior to joining PHIL, Lizania helped support SNAP-Ed initiatives and helped support health project development and research within Food is Medicine at the Public Health Institute, Center for Wellness and Nutrition. Lizania is a dedicated bilingual Research Associate with a commitment towards equitable access to health with experience in the inclusion of community voice. Lizania’s passion for public health and community voice was ignited during her volunteer work at a rural student-run health clinic while studying at the University of California, Davis.
